I have no musical 'noesis' but I used to sing in a choir I loved. I've been out for nearly iii years every bit nosotros moved country. Just been asked to audition tomorrow night for a local choir. Youtube tells me my range (which is rusty) is D3 to D5. What song can I sing please? probably needs to be not current music as I don't hear much radio etc so won't accept time to acquire from scratch; needs to be something I tin just listen and copy another singer with as I don't know how to change the key for learning information technology. I'd really love any suggestions please as I'd really like to bring together the choir! I'thousand also at the tail end of a chest infection so I'm a bit nervous nearly also many things going incorrect...

Do you mean you're a mezzo soprano? I can't go with all this D3 and then forth.

What songs do you know? If y'all only accept a day to become confident...it makes sense to choose a song y'all like singing.

I was an alto ii in an all daughter'due south choir; all the songs I 'know' are the bass parts of other songs where someone else had the tune! I tend to sing forth to the parts I tin attain of whatever my 9 year former is listening to - which used to be whatever his choir was singing. Disney tunes and and so forth. mayhap some quondam Robbie Williams from my end! <<sad, I know>> ... only I don't think I'll have the range to get information technology all.

off to google Moana songs...

Which are your fave singers OP? No good me saying "Sing this one!" when you hate or don't relate to the vocalist.

Thanks ladies; sky autumn might work.... I've been snatching out bursts of 'what a wonderful globe' around the identify, I can vaguely remember an acapella version from nigh ten years agone which had lots of melody, though I'll demand to find a scrap of backing support equally I'm so rusty. Might as well have a quick look at greatest showman every bit some of those might work.

I'm afraid that since kids, music has gone out the window and all the singers I like are all from 15 years ago; I don't necessarily even remember the songs (I tried a bit of Norah jones earlier)..

"I believe I can fly". Lovely.

Doesn't matter that they're old...fifteen years isn't former for a song anyhow! People sing songs way older than that at auditions every 24-hour interval.

Balmy / ajas ... I think I'm going to walk and pick up the kids from school and only choice something with a clear head subsequently that (and and then sing it for the next 24 hours!)....

What nearly My House from Matilda. Dd1 did that as an audition piece and it sounded fantastic.

I'1000 not that girl is a nice one, from wicked. Near things past Pink, depends on how confident your high notes are really.

Phew... <<wipes sweat from brow>>. I've got a reprieve 'til next week, which is very good equally my voice is definitely affected by the chest infection I'one thousand still trying to boot.

They're looking for something to showcase the 'lower' range. I've been singing Louis Armstrong (wonderful earth) and Robbie Williams (angels), but kicking into those really low notes on the go get is a bit difficult. If I had half a brain nearly how to transcribe music or play the piano (and then I could mind to what I had to sing, exactly), it would exist easier, merely you do what you can with what you lot got!

I sang my house in the choir, so I know information technology (at least the alto ii part); I'll see if I can find a version, thanks, Witch...

DrPeppers, I sadly don't know that song well enough, though I've realised I've definitely got a bias towards musical theatre type songs!

Thanks once again all for your help!

Do you know whatsoever Carole Male monarch? Dd has sung those songs for musical theatre assessments.

sentenceinterrupted Tue 09-Oct-xviii 21:21:34

Definitely know some Carole King ... only probably not well enough. I might meet if I tin find a voice coach for a lesson or 2 or even just some time to find me a skilful song before next week. I'm a bit on song overload at the moment; even married man has commented on how much I've been listening to and attempting to sing (in the key that's on youtube)..

blueangel1 Tue 09-Oct-18 21:28:40

Howdy OP, a voice jitney for a session or two is definitely a skilful idea, and you lot might make up one's mind you fancy having more regular lessons.

The trick to the low notes is to relax into them and keep your head upward; don't dip your head down as yous'll close your throat and terminate them coming out properly.

It definitely doesn't matter if the song you pick is an quondam one! If you're looking for something for a low vocalism, accept a look at How-do-you-do (the Adele one) or Hallelujah.
